Historic Mortgage Rates
Rates that are back at the 50's level!

NOTE: This graph shows rates prior to 2000,
and how drastically rates have come down-
we are back to enjoying rates of the 1950s
level!

After 1973 the rate shown is the typical
posted rate from the last Wednesday in the
month. Prior to 1973 the conventional
mortgage rate shown is a simple average
of rates charged by the majority of large
institutional lenders, including chartered
banks, for residential mortgage loans as of
mid-month.
Between 1967 and 1970 the average rate shown includes rates for twenty-five year mortgages.
All data is courtesy of the Bank of Canada.

Since 2000 the rates have dropped even lower. As you can see, we are enjoying a time of exceptionally good rates!
