On Being an "Expiry"
How to evaluate your situation. This is usually a very frustrating, disappointing and sometimes confusing experience, to have had your house on the market for 3 months or so and to not have sold. Where do you go from here?
There are just 2 questions to ask yourselves:
- Have you been fair to your agent?
- Has your agent been fair to you?
Have you been fair to your agent?
- Did you heed your agent’s initial advice on pricing? If not, did you adjust your pricing in a timely manner, based on your agent’s advice.
- Were you co-operative in allowing appointments for your home to be shown?
Has your agent been fair to you?
- In retrospect, did your agent give you good advice on pricing before you listed?
- Did your agent diligently fulfill his/her commitments to you around marketing your home?
- Was your home presented in its best light- appealingly presented and accurately described?
Based on your answers to these questions you would give your agent another chance at a lower price, or interview several agents for the job, with your new insight!
