The Dilemma of the Diligent Agent

Do you want more money for your home? ..yes, we admit it’s a leading question, and the answer is obvious!

When you choose an agent to list your home, the agent’s most important task is to get you the most money for your home. Wouldn’t you agree, that your biggest concern is getting the most money out of your home that is possible? Most families have their life savings, or a sizable chunk of life savings, tied up in their homes.

If your biggest worry (right up there with being ensnared by a real estate agent before being ready!) is not getting all the equity out of your home, can you understand the real estate agent’s temptation to ingratiate him/herself to you with a price estimate that is a bit high?!

So why would a diligent agent’s biggest worry be over- pricing, even over the fear of losing the business to a more ‘popular’ agent, who is suggesting a higher price?

The answer is, that overpricing is the surest way of shooting the vendor in the foot. It is almost never in the vendor’s best interests!
